To boost the moral and spiritual values of the students, Assembly, Chapel Service, SCM and Value Education are provided by the College. The Student Christian Movement is active throughout the year and its primary aim is to instil in the stu dents methods to ‘worship and study’, ‘fellowship and caring’ and ‘action and relation’. The SCM conducts regular prayers, singing Bible Studies, the study of social and national issues, quiz contests, discussions, creative writing and retreats. Each class conducts the Assembly every fortnight.

STUDENT CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT OF INDIA REPORT 2020-2021
The Student Christian Movement of India is a student’s movement with Christian ethos
which maintains a fellowship of students, teachers, and senior friends with commitment to
translate Christian Faith into Action through contemporizing faith in Jesus Christ by
discerning critically the signs of times.
SCMI has been organizing various programs and events for many students across the country,
SCMI has been a part of “BISHOP COTTON WOMEN’S CHRISTIAN COLLEGE”,
encouraging students and inspiring in many objective ways.

Report 2014 -15
The unit was able to register 58 students during the academic year. The students actively participated in the following programmes held throughout the year viz.
3-5 June, 2014 the SCM Convenor, Mrs. Sonu Sujit David alongwith 2 students – Angel Blessy of III B.Com C and Jemi Clarinta of II B.Com A took part in the National Level Biennial Conference of the SCM held at Aluva, Kerala. The highlight of this conference was a public lecture delivered by Ms. Medha Patkar the internationally famed social activist. We had the privilege of interacting with her.
On 17th July 2014 our students participated in the peace rally held at Town Hall to protest against the violence and discrimination meted out against the Palestinians.
A Time for Creation 2014 Service was conducted on 10th October, 2014 with the Order of Worship for Sustainable Development being used. Our Principal, Mrs. Esther Prasanakumar attended the same. All SCM students and their friends and the some lecturers attended the same. Rev. Sudhakar Joshua, Deputy Director of Ecumenical Christian Centre, Whitefield, Bangalore shared the sermon. SCM South India Regional Conference for Staff & Convenors was held on 5 & 6 Dec,2014 at the SCM House Bangalore. The SCM Convenor of our College, Mrs. Sonu Sujit David attended the same. Around 30 Convenors from different colleges from South India participated in the same.
Christmas Programme at SCM House, Bangalore was well attended by our students. They also presented a choreography for this programme. Our Senior friend, Dr. Grace Premila was also present for this programme.
A 3 day SCM State Level Conference for SCMers was held in SCM House from 25- 27 Feb’15. Diana Hoover, Agnes Peter and Ammu Aniyan Kunju of I B.Com ‘A’ participated actively in the same.
The International Women’s Day Celebration was held in the SCM House on 8th March, 2015. SCM students - Mary Diana, Diana Hoover, Manasa V and Ammu sang a special song and Jemi Clarinta of II B.Com A participated as a singing angel in the play titled, “The World I wish to make”.
SCM Japan visited our college on 20 Feb’15 and SCM Germany interacted with us in our campus on 5 March’15. Both the visits enriched our understanding of their culture and activities in their SCM units. It was a truly rewarding experience.

The XXVII General committee meeting of Student Christian Movement of India was held in Benaulim, Goa from 28th to 30thMay, 2015 on the theme “Blossom and Bloom’’. Ms. Diana Hoover, Ms. Agnes Peter, Ms. Manasa V and Ms. Ammu of II Bcom A took active part in the same.
Unit Inaugural function- Our College inaugurated the SCMI activities on 4th of August 2015 for the academic year 2015-2016 in the college campus. Both the unit president and student secretaries- Ms. Jemi Clarinta and Ms. Diana Hoover shared their experiences in SCMI and invited new friends to become SCMers.
SCMI Karnataka regional programme was held from 15th to 17th December 2015 to discuss on the topic “Indian democracy: Secularism versus Communalism challenges for student community” for which Ms. Ammu Aniyan Kunju of II Bcom A presented a paper on the topic “Secularism: Vision and Praxis”
SCMI Gender and Social Justice desk, in collaboration with Aneka Organization organized a national workshop on “Understanding Human Gender and Sexuality” at SCMI house from 4th-6th Feb 2016, in which Ms. Diana Hoover, Ms. Ammu Aniyan Kunju, Ms. Agnes Peter, Ms. Manasa V and Ms. Aishwarya actively participated in the same.
The Young Men Christian Assocation (YMCA) organised a two day camp on the theme “Youth for Social Action” from 18th to 20th March at Elagiri Hills, Vellore. Ms. Jeba Jyothi Jansi Rani of I B Com B, Ms. Incilla Jaba Kani of II BA, Ms. Agnes Peter and Ms. Diana Hoover of II B.Com A participated in the camp.

It was scheduled at the SCMI house from 7th- 9th March 2017, in which Ms. Ammu Aniyan, Ms.Diana Hoover, Ms. Agnes Peter and Ms. Jeba Jyothi Jansi Rani actively took part in.
Report 2017-18
The SCM unit of our college has a rich legacy of creative activities, faith initiatives and social action. In the academic years, SCM Continued and amplified it's creative presence in campus in various ways and forms. Our students and senior friends creatively led the movement.
We are in the process of enhancing our capabilities to inspire and equip the student community to realize their creative potential and to respond positively to the call to be social transformers.
The unit membership comprises of students and senior friends with the total of 105.
The following are the programme which our students attended in the present year.
• In the XXVIII Annual general committee meeting which was held in Kerala, President Ms. Jeba represented SCM Karnataka and was elected in the SCM Executive and Constitutional body of the SCM for the year 2017-2019.
• Our unit president Ms. Jeba represented SCM India in an international youth camp which was held in Germany.
• Ms. Rachel, Ms. Dharshini and Ms. Monica represented our SCM unit in a documentary screening in support of a women’s rights which was held in SCM house Bangalore.
• In the National level leadership training programme which was held in Punjab, our students Ms.Libnah, Ms.Mercy and Ms. Hepsibah represented SCM Karnataka which was jointly organized by SCMI and IAPCHE.
• Our Unit students actively took part in a competition which was organized by the 1st year MSW students of St. Joseph’s College in collaboration with SCMI which took place in the SCM House Bangalore. Ms Jeba, Ms. Kedsiya, Ms. Rachel, Ms. Alisan, Ms. Aishwarya and Ms. Claron participated in various activities.
• Our Students Ms. Kriti, Ms. Kedsiya , Ms. Hepsibah and Ms. Jeba represented our unit in the Mara Mara (Discussion under the tree) in the SCM House Bangalore regarding the violence against women in our Society.
• Ms. Kedsiya, Ms. Kriti, Ms. Hepsibah and Ms. Jeba actively took part in the students Manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka election.
• With regard to the celebration of Women’s Day, the SCM organized a movie screening regarding the Delhi Gang rape Case. Our Students Ms. Sherlin, Ms. Rachel, Ms. Mary, Ms. Mini Diana and Ms. Jeba actively took in the group discussion which enlightened their views on the status of women of the Indian Society.
All our activities and achievements are the result of our Lord’s immense grace and the team work of our Students, Staff advisors and Senior friends.
